Mike was born in Rocky Mount, NC in 1967. He went to college at North Carolina State University from 1985-1989 (graduating with a double major in business management and economics), and it was during this time that he started fishing the waters of Atlantic Beach and Hatteras, NC. Falling in love with king mackerel tournaments, he won several tournaments and was widely known in the fishing community for his love/passion for fishing as well as running “Webb’s Fiberglas & Sports, Inc.” from 1989 till 2004. He took “Webb’s” from a struggling business to a successful business by concentrating and understanding that customers just wanted straight forward pricing on boats and service after the sell. Now, it is on to his next adventure which includes pelagic charters. Mike’s concentration will be offshore fishing when the new 61′ Guthrie is finished in April, 2007. However, he still has a desire to see the enjoyment and excitement people show when live baiting king mackerel or bottom fishing for big grouper or snapper.
